Personalised Flower Lamps: Your Words on the Wood Base

A personalised flower lamp keeps the flower exactly as it is and adds your words to the beech wood base underneath. A name, a date, or four words that only make sense to one person — cut into the wood, not printed on a sticker.

Choose a lamp to personalise

What actually gets personalised

Worth being clear about this before you order, because it is the opposite of what most people expect. The flower inside the sphere is not changed. It stays the exact bloom you chose, sealed in clear resin. The personalisation is engraved along the side of the solid wood base, which is the part you hold and the part that carries the lamp’s weight.

What you can put there:

  • Up to 30 characters of textEnough for a name, a date, a set of initials, or a short phrase like “Forever, Mom”. Longer text is automatically scaled down to fit, so it shrinks rather than wraps into a paragraph.
  • Yours to shapeYou choose the font, add your own line breaks, and see a live preview of where every character will sit before you confirm anything.
  • Or an image insteadPrefer something you drew or wrote by hand? You can upload an image or a PDF artwork file instead of typed text. For example, a scan or a clean photo of handwriting works.
  • Four font stylesClassic, Elegant, Modern, and Handwritten. Classic and Handwritten suit a name or a handwritten note; Modern has wider letter spacing, which reads well for dates and initials.
Text or artwork — one or the other. Because both are engraved into the same small area of wood, the form takes one or the other rather than both at once. Decide which carries the message better before you start.

How the engraving is made, step by step

Personalised orders follow a short, fixed path. Nothing needs to be sent by email and nothing needs to be decided before you pay.

  1. Choose Custom Engraving on the product pageAlongside the sphere size, select the engraved option rather than the standard one. The engraving is a small add-on to the lamp’s price.
  2. Complete your orderThe lamp is not put into production until the personalised details have been submitted, so nothing is cut before you have had your say.
  3. Submit your text or artworkOnce the order is placed, the personalisation page opens from your order. Type your text, or upload your image or PDF.
  4. Check the live previewThe preview shows the text in the chosen font at the size it will be cut, laid out on the base the way it will actually appear. Adjust the wording, font, or line breaks until it looks right.
  5. Confirm, and it goes to productionSubmitting locks the layout in for that order, and the engraving file is prepared from exactly what you confirmed.

What makes a good engraving

Thirty characters sounds tight until you realise it is roughly the length of the phrase that actually gets remembered. Short engravings look intentional. Long ones look like a paragraph that was squeezed.

Things that work well

A first name or a nickname. A date written the way you say it. Initials. A wedding or anniversary date. Coordinates of a place that means something. A single word that carries an in-joke. A short line from a song.

Things that tend to disappoint

Full sentences. Quotes longer than a few words. Anything that needs explanation to be understood — engraving has no room for context, and a line that is funny to you in November can read oddly to the person receiving it in December.

One practical tip: write it out on paper first, then count the characters. If it does not fit comfortably, cut it. The message lands harder when there is less of it.

Personalised, engraved, or embossed — which word do you want?

These three words get used loosely in listings, and they do not mean the same thing. If you are shopping from the UK or Australia you may have searched “personalised”, and if you are in the US you probably typed “personalized” — same word, same product, different spelling.

Term What it means What Nitela does
Personalised / personalized Anything made specific to one person — engraved, printed, or otherwise customised Yes — text up to 30 characters or your own artwork, on the wood base
Engraved The mark is cut into the material itself, so it cannot peel or rub off Yes — this is the method. The text is cut into the beech wood
Embossed A raised or pressed relief, usually on paper, leather, or metal No — the term is sometimes used loosely online, but an engraved lamp is not an embossed one
Printed / labelled Ink applied to the surface, often on a plate or sticker No — printed detail can wear at the edges over the years, which is why we engrave instead

Ordering from the UK, Australia, or Canada

Everything on this page ships outside the United States, and shipping is free worldwide regardless of where you are ordering from.

  • Production timeMost engraved lamps are made and checked within 3–7 business days. Peak gift seasons such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day can add a little to that, so it is worth ordering early rather than late.
  • Delivery timeAfter dispatch, allow around 7–15 business days. Tracking is emailed when the carrier has the parcel, though tracking can take 24–72 hours to update.
  • Duties and taxesImport duties, VAT, and local handling fees are set by your country and are not included in the lamp’s price. For the UK, Australia, and Canada these are usually collected by the carrier before delivery.
  • Returns on engraved lampsAn engraved lamp is made specially for your order, so it cannot be returned or refunded if you simply change your mind. It can still be replaced or refunded if it arrives damaged, defective, or with the engraving done incorrectly — that is our error, not yours.

Each lamp is packed in protective packaging for international transit, which matters more on an engraved order that cannot simply be replaced.

Lamps worth engraving

Engraving is available on every lamp in the collection. These are the ones people personalise most, because the flower already says something before a word is added.

Personalised lamp questions

Can you engrave a preserved flower lamp?

Yes. The engraving goes on the beech wood base rather than on the resin sphere, so personalising a lamp never touches the flower. You can engrave up to 30 characters of text, or supply your own artwork as an image or PDF if you would rather use handwriting or a drawing.

How many characters can be engraved?

Thirty characters, counted across the whole piece of text. That is about the length of “Forever, Mom” or a written-out date. If you type longer text it is scaled down to fit rather than cut off, but text that has been shrunk to squeeze in looks cramped, so shorter is genuinely better here.

Can I use my own handwriting?

Yes. Instead of typed text you can upload an image or a PDF file, which is how most people send handwriting — a scan, or a photo of a note taken flat and in good light. The Preview shows you how it will sit on the base before you submit it.

Will I see the engraving before it is made?

Yes. After your order is placed, the personalisation page opens from your order and shows a live preview in the exact font and size that will be cut, laid out on the base as it will appear. Nothing goes into production until you have confirmed what you see there.

Can a personalised lamp be returned?

No — an engraved lamp is made specifically for your order, so it is excluded from the 14-day return window for non-personalised items. If it arrives damaged, faulty, or with the engraving done differently from what you confirmed, that is our mistake and it will be replaced or refunded.

Is “personalised” the same as “personalized”?

Yes, it is the same word. “Personalised” is the spelling used in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland; “personalized” is the US spelling. Nothing about the product or the options changes between them.

Do you ship personalised lamps to the UK, Australia, and Canada?

Yes, and shipping is free worldwide on every order. Allow 3–7 business days for the engraving and production, then around 7–15 business days in transit. Import duties and local taxes are set by your country and are not part of the lamp’s price.
